What is Antenatal Care?

Depending on your package of care antenatal appointments will be approximately at week 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 28, 30, 32, 34, 36, then once every week at 37, 38, 39, 40, 41 and 42 weeks of pregnancy or until your baby arrives.

 
Appointments will be in your own home each lasting 1-2 hours and if you wish, I can also accompany and support you at your hospital appointments.   

At each appointment I will offer to complete a holistic assessment, a physical check of mum and baby, measure baby (after week 24), listen to the heartbeat (after week 16), take your blood pressure and test your urine. You will be offered a customized growth chart, as recommended by The Perinatal Institute.  

I will also talk through options, choices and birth planning. Your appointments include parent education and if you wish, colostrum harvesting. Throughout your pregnancy I can provide you with useful information and advice to help you and baby have a healthy pregnancy.

If you are planning a homebirth with me, you will also be offered to meet my colleague Midwife who will support me a as a second midwife at your birth. 

Appointments are arranged at a time convenient for you and your family. Your family can be involved in your antenatal care if you wish.
